Natura 2000 Awards: Submission until 27 April 2022
The European Commission is proud to announce the 21 finalists for the 2022 edition of the Natura 2000 Award. The selected finalists are from Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain and include several cross-border initiatives which also involve partners from Cyprus and Croatia.

Among the candidates there are four projects in which Greece participates:
Protecting the Mediterranean loggerhead sea turtle
Adaptation of Eleonora's falcon to climate change
Promoting ecotourism in Mediterranean protected areas
RECONNECT for marine protected areas
Vote for your favourite finalist!
The European Citizens’ Award will be given to the finalist which receives the highest number of votes in the public vote. You can vote online for your favourite finalist until 27 April 2022. Additionally, the finalists will be assessed by a high level jury to choose the five category winners.
The winners will be announced at a public ceremony that will take place on 18 May 2022.
The Award – now in its sixth edition – honours leading nature conservation achievements connected to Europe’s Natura 2000 network of protected areas. The Award is open to any organisation or person involved in Natura 2000, including public and local authorities, businesses, NGOs, landowners, educational institutions and individuals.
