The European Natura 2000 Award rewards excellence in the management of Natura 2000 sites and showcases the network’s added value of conserving nature for local communities and economies across the European Union.   The call for applications for the 2024 edition of the Award will be launched on 22 May 2023 and applications will be accepted until 12 October 2023, 23:59 CET. The European Commission has revealed the 9 finalists in this year’s LIFE Awards. A hybrid ceremony announcing the winners is scheduled for 6 June 2023 during EU Green Week 2023. The Awards recognise excellence in nature protection, environment, and climate action. The European Commission has selected the 12 finalists for this year’s LIFE Awards, including LIFE RE-Vultures project involving beneficiaries from Greece. A hybrid ceremony announcing the winners will take place on 30 May during EU Green Week. The European Commission is proud to announce the 21 finalists for the 2022 edition of the Natura 2000 Award. The selected finalists are from Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain and include several cross-border initiatives which also involve partners from Cyprus and Croatia. With a budget of EUR 16 million, the European City Facility (EUCF) Call for Proposals is open until 3 March 2022. EUCF Call for Proposals (LIFE-2021-CET-EUCF) under LIFE Clean Energy Transition is open and proposals are invited to offer financial support and services to cities and municipalities or their groupings to develop investment concepts for sustainable energy investments. Applications for the 2022 edition are now open, and can be submitted until 14 Octoberber 2021, midnight CET. Anyone directly involved in Natura 2000 – businesses, authorities, NGOs, volunteers, landowners, educational institutions or individuals – can apply for the award. All eligible applications are assessed by an independent team of evaluators, resulting in a list of finalists. A high-level Jury decides on the five winners, one for each category:

EASME published the LIFE 2020 Call for Proposals from NGOs on the European Green Deal (NGO4GD). This special call targeting non-governmental organisations active in the environmental and/or climate fields at EU Member States’ level is launched in a context where many have suffered revenue losses as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. In these difficult times, this call for proposals is aimed at reinforcing their capacity to mobilise and strengthen civil society participation and contribution to the implementation of the European Green Deal which remains more than ever an EU priority. The European Commission launched the Natura 2000 Award to celebrate and promote best practices for nature conservation in Europe. 27 finalists for the Natura 2000 Award, selected out of 79 eligible applications from twenty-six EU Member States as well as the United Kingdom. The selected finalists are from Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom. They include several cross-border projects which involve partners from additional EU Member States. Any entity involved in activities related to Natura 2000 can apply to one of the five Award categories:-Communication-Socio-Economic Benefits-Conservation-Reconciling Interests / Perceptions-Cross-border Cooperation

The European Commission has launched an open consultation on the European Climate Pact to engage citizens and communities in shaping the action for our climate and environment. All citizens and organisations are welcome to contribute to this consultation. The Commission seeks to gather input from a broad range of stakeholders, ranging from national, regional and local authorities to businesses, unions, civil society organisations, education organisations, consumer groups, research and innovation organisations, as well as individual citizens, including youth. You can contribute to this consultation by filling in the online questionnaire until the 17th of June 2020.
