Natura 2000 Awards: Online voting until 15 September 2020

The European Commission launched the Natura 2000 Award to celebrate and promote best practices for nature conservation in Europe.

27 finalists for the Natura 2000 Award, selected out of 79 eligible applications from twenty-six EU Member States as well as the United Kingdom. The selected finalists are from Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom. They include several cross-border projects which involve partners from additional EU Member States.

Any entity involved in activities related to Natura 2000 can apply to one of the five Award categories:
-Communication
-Socio-Economic Benefits
-Conservation
-Reconciling Interests / Perceptions
-Cross-border Cooperation and Networking.

Everyone is invited to vote until midnight on the 15 of September 2020. The winners are tentatively expected to be announced on 14 October 2020.

In addition, the high-profile “EU Citizens’ Award” goes to the application receiving the highest number of nominations through a public vote on the Award website.
